APPEAL FOR MOTIVATION PRIZES FOR ADA SCHOOLS
All too soon the year has run its full cycle and, for the eighth year in succession, the Ada Concerned Citizens Forum (ACCF)/Education Support and Social Services (ESSAS) is preparing to once again award its annual motivation prizes to the Ada Junior High Schools and their teachers and pupils who excelled in the 2009 Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE).
This means that, once again, the ACCF has to fall on its generous donors and sponsors, both traditional and new ones, to join it to honour our educationists and their wards for their good performance in 2009.
As will be seen from the table that follows, the Ada schools, as a whole, have shown much improvement in their performance from year to year since the ACCF awarded its first prizes in 2003. The 63.6 percentage pass for 2009 is apparently a setback compared with the 2008 results. This is partly explained by the fact that the 2009 results are for public schools only, whereas the 2008 results included private schools as well. Besides, it would also appear that the 2009 results for the District are in line with the nationwide 2009 BECE results which are reported to be generally bad. That’s no consolation, though. The ACCF expects the schools and their teachers and pupils to continue to do better and better, year after year.
